Deep Cleaning Your Modtub (Balanced Step-by-Step Guide)
What you’ll need
Jet Line cleaner (Sirona or similar)
Warm water
Pipe/line cleaners or small brush
All-purpose tub-safe sanitizer/cleaner
Hose or drain
Soft cloth or non-abrasive sponge
1. Prepare the tub
Turn off the system and unplug any accessories.
Remove any items around the tub that might get splashed.
Make sure your drain is accessible.
2. Fill with warm water
After draining the old water, fill the tub with warm (not hot) water to the normal operating level. Right about the intake hole near the bottom of the tub.
Warm water helps the Jet Line cleaner work more effectively.
3. Add Jet Line cleaner & run the system
Add the recommended amount of cleaner according to the product label.
Turn on the pump and circulation system.
Let the tub run so the cleaner can flush buildup out of the pump, plumbing, and hoses.
Typically 15–30 minutes unless your cleaner recommends longer.
4. Drain the tub
Turn the system off and drain the tub completely.
Look for any loosened buildup or debris as the water drains.
5. Clean hoses and fittings
Remove accessible hoses and components.
Use pipe/line cleaners or a small brush to clean inside each hose and component.
Rinse thoroughly before reattaching.
This step helps remove any leftover biofilm that the Jet Line cleaner loosened.
6. Clean the interior tub surface
Use a tub-safe all-purpose sanitizer or cleaner to wipe the entire inside shell:
Bottom
Sides
Waterline area (where buildup often forms)
Use a soft cloth or non-abrasive sponge so you don’t scratch the surface.
Rinse thoroughly to remove all cleaner residue.
7. Refill & restart
Reattach hoses and fittings.
Refill with fresh water.
Turn the system back on and confirm everything is flowing normally.
Suggested frequency
Deep clean every 3-5 months for normal usage
Do it more often if you use the tub heavily or notice odors or films.
